Type 1

W. J. Barron & Sons were a firm of Boot and Shoe Manufacturers and Dealers.

They operated from:

    Eagle Shoe Mercery Works,
    Whitecross Street,
    London E. C.

This was an unofficial underprint, privately printed in black over the gum.

The underprint is believed to have been used from around 1868 (as the earliest recorded plate is 113 which was put to press on 12^th May 1868).
