I would like to show you an example of this underprint on a stamp but, as yet, I have been unable to locate one. This underprint is believed to be for the firm Ryland and Sons who were Cotton Spinners, Manufacturers and Warehousemen operating from: New High Street, and 56A Wood Street, They became a Limited company on 24th September 1873.
1870. Unofficial underprint type 49 (over the gum) in black. PP169 1d lake-red (SG 43 or G1) PP170 1/2d rose-red (SG 48 or G4)
