Beddoe, Hulbert & Co. were a firm of Trimming Manufacturers and Warehousemen. They operated from: 126/7 Wood Street, and 5 1/2 Gutter Lane, See also B. H. & H. The underprint is believed to have been used from around 1874 (as the earliest recorded plate is 174 which was put to press on 20th April 1874).
1874. Unofficial underprint type 2 (over the gum) in black . a) Vertical underprint, reading upwards PP2 1d lake-red (SG 43 or G1) PP3 1d blue (SG 45 or G2) PP4 1d Venetian red (SG 166 or K3)
b) Vertical underprint, reading downwards PP5 1d lake-red (SG 43 or G1)
